Wollongong is probably better known as a city of heavy industry than a holiday resort.
But the arrival of Hotel TOTTO (formerly the basic Marketview Accommodation) could change that - with the boutique hotel in the centre of the city aiming to attract weekend leisure seekers.
The new property is the centre of Wollongong but just metres away from world-class waves, Destination NSW reports.
The hotel pays tribute to the city's traditions with its industrial-style decor.
"Each of our 150 rooms is ideal for the ultimate chilled-out experience," the hotel says in its PR blurb. "Minimalistic and unfussy, but with all the creature comforts you want in a hotel."
There is an open plan lobby and self-serve kiosks that enable guests to check in 24 hours a day.
The hotel is home to BASTA Trattoria, a Mediterranean- and Italian inspired restaurant and bar, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Hotel facilities include 24-hour reception and complimentary wifi - and the TOTTO is less than an hour drive from Sydney Airport.
There is an opening special right now for $188 per night including free breakfasts.
