Just about every drink has its own special day - and I'm reliably informed that National Espresso Martini Day is next Wednesday, March 15.
Wherever you go in the world, espresso martinis are a cocktail bar favourite, usually made using vodka. The people from Patrón Tequila, however, are encouraging cocktail lovers to try a new twist on the long-time favourite, by using tequila as the base spirit rather than vodka.
They are encouraging cocktail lovers to try the recipe below and see for themselves if they prefer a vodka version, or a tequila tipple.
Patrón Espresso Martini
Ingredients: 45 ml Patrón Tequila
45 ml chilled espresso
15 ml Simple Syrup
Small pinch of Salt
+ 3 coffee beans
45 ml chilled espresso
15 ml Simple Syrup
Small pinch of Salt
+ 3 coffee beans
Method: Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a cocktail coupe. Garnish with three coffee beans - or four, if you are feeling particularly devilish.
