A grand new hotel unveiled for Sydney

Australia is set to welcome the first Capella Hotels and Resorts property in the country.

Sydney’s former Department of Education building will be re-born as Capella Sydney in March next year, the company said.

The heritage-listed sandstone CBD building - which dates back to 1915 - will have 192 guest rooms and suites as well as three ground-level food and beverage outlets, with areas throughout the hotel showcasing commissioned and collected artworks.

The ground floor will have space for six meeting and event spaces, catering for groups of between 10 and 80 persons.

In-house guests at Capella Sydney will have the opportunity to experience the Living Room - which is a signature space in all Capella properties.

Centred around a 20-metre heated indoor pool, other hotel facilities include a fitness centre, yoga platform, and Auriga Spa.

Capella has properties in Bangkok, Hainan, Hanoi, Shanghai, Singapore and Ubud with future properties planned for Taipei, South Korea, Kyoto, the Maldives and Nanjing.

The Capella Hotel Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Singapore-based Pontiac Land Group.
