So you really want to push the boat out on a luxury cruise?

So you love cruising? And you are happy to give your black American Express card a serious workout?

Meet Evrima, the luxury 298-passenger boutique cruise ship that started its maiden voyage this weekend.

Evrima is the first ship in the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection - launched by the luxury hotel chain - and is making its debut with a seven-night voyage from Barcelona to Nice after several delays pushed its first cruise back by three years.

The cheapest cabins on board have set back passengers a minimum of just over $9,000 for their week at sea.

With menus designed by Michelin three-star chef Sven Elverfeld, the Evrima is aimed at gourmets and the very rich.

Despite the cost, the company says it has been overwhelmed by demand, with almost all cabins sold out for northern winter trips around the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.

Evrima, which means "discovery" in Greek, is the first of three luxury yachts Ritz-Carlton has ordered.

Evrima will be followed by two identical yachts - Ilma and Luminara - which are currently under construction at Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, outside Nantes.

As well as standard cabins, the Evrima features a series of suites including a two-storey “loft-style” apartment, and an owner’s suite with a private balcony whirlpool.

HervĂ© Humler, Ritz-Carlton’s president and chief operating officer, said the yachts had been designed to have a “distinctive personality” and “be true standouts in some of the most glamorous ports around the world”.

The Evrima has an infinity pool, as well as its own “marina” from which guests can take out paddleboards, kayaks, sailboats, windsurf boards and snorkelling equipment.

There is also a gym, sauna, steam room, a beauty lounge offering treatments including non-surgical facelifts, and a “gentleman’s grooming salon”.

The company says "the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection combines the luxury lifestyle of The Ritz-Carlton and the casual freedom of a yachting vacation".
