Going up the country; where the water tastes like wine

Looking for an excuse to head out for a weekend and enjoy some wine and food?

As the days become lighter and brighter. the famous "Long Lunch" returns in Western New South Wales.

Hosted by Canowindra’s Windowrie Estate, the event returns after a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19, with the O’Dea family to welcome guests to enjoy a Japanese-inspired lunch in the gardens of their homestead matched with wines from the vineyard.

Tickets for the 20th annual Long Lunch have been released, with the date set for Saturday, October 29.

“We have been exporting our wines to Japan for 20 years, making fantastic friends along the way,” says Windowrie’s Jason O’Dea.

“It has been one of the family’s most enjoyable and rewarding relationships, so we thought it high time to celebrate it.

“Along with live music, the Japanese-inspired meal will be prepared by the very talented chef Angela McCormick. The dishes will be matched to our range of wines from our Windowrie, Pig in the House and Natural Wine Co. ranges.

“It has been too long since we hosted our Long Lunch, and a lot has happened in that time. Not only has Covid-19 stopped us entertaining guests in the garden, we lost our father David last year.

“This Long Lunch will be the first without him, so he will be remembered at the lunch. It was one of David’s dreams to establish the vineyard and garden, and he was in his element when hosting these lunches.”

Tickets are $195, all inclusive. www.eventbrite.com.au/e/windowrie-long-lunch-tickets-386633409937
