Totally Australian: barbecues, country music, hot rods and rodeo

Vegetarians please look away now.

With barbecued meats, country music and a rodeo, events do not get much more Australian bush than Meatstock.

The classic Australian festival is back this year after a two-year hiatus and will make its debut in the meat capital of Toowoomba, Queensland, as well as events in Melbourne and Sydney.

The event will take place over two days on April 8-9, showcasing Australian country music stars headed by Lee Kernaghan, Brad Cox  and the Wolfe Brothers.

There will also be bull riding contests, hot rod car shows, barbecue wars, food trucks, beer gardens, a beard and mo competition and other country pursuits (or should that be hirsutes?)

Gourmet on the Road readers have a chance to win a double pass absolutely free. See the bottom of the post for how to win.

For those wanting to make a full weekend of it, Meatstock will be offering on-site camping and RV sites.

Ticketing options will range from full weekend passes with camping to single day passes. Visitors are promised that plenty of parking will be available.

For those who feel like seeing the The Professional Bull Riders go buck wild, there are upgraded tickets to watch the rodeo each afternoon.

Tickets are available at www.meatstock.com.au.

One Gourmet in the Road reader will win a double pass of full weekend tickets plus PBR Bull Riding passes for both days. The ticket package is valued at $208.00.

To enter send an email to gourmetontheroad@yahoo.com with the word Meatstock in the header. Include your full name and address. The winner, to be drawn at random, will be announced on March 26 and all data will be destroyed.
