The vibrant New Zealand city of Napier has its first five-star international hotel with the opening of boutique hotel Swiss-Belboutique Napier.

It is the first internationally branded hotel in the city and will help to place the attractive Art Deco destination of Napier front and centre in the minds of travellers to the Hawke's Bay wine region.

"I am proud to announce the opening of the Swiss-Belboutique Napier," said Swiss-Bellhotel president and chairman Gavin Faull, who is a New Zealander.

"I am committed to supporting the growth of tourism and development in my country and this is a tremendous step forward in this direction.

"This spectacular upscale hotel is the perfect property to introduce our upscale boutique brand and I strongly believe it is an excellent addition to not just our portfolio but it also stands true to the Art Deco destination.

"I am looking forward to delivering unforgettable and immersive experiences to our guests while having our top priority as health, safety and well-being of our guests, team members and business associates."

The hotel is in the central business district - a short walk to Hastings St pedestrian mall, the waterfront and Napier's famous Art Deco attractions.

Close by are the Art Deco Tour and the National Aquarium of New Zealand.

Saffron Social Kitchen will showcasing New Zealand cuisine with a modern twist. The emphasis will be on seasonal local produce and sustainability.

Good news, too, for animal lovers with Swiss-Belboutique Napier one of the few pet-friendly hotels in town.
