Discover Tasmania's newest cellar door eatery

Steve and Monique Lubiana have been making fine wines in Tasmania for almost three decades.

Steve (Stefano) is the latest in a long line of winemakers and his son Marco is now also making impressive wines on the island state.

The Lubianas established their little slice of Tuscany back in 1990. Prior to that, Steve's father
Mario grew vines and made wine in South Australia, and their ancestors in Italy for generations before that.

The family winery and distillery overlooks the River Derwent in Granton, 30 minutes north of Hobart and is also home to a re-imagined post-Covid eatery: Osteria Vista.

The new eatery features a $65per person four-course set-menu offering across lunch Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

From antipasti to dolci, guests are urged to take it slow in a rustic Italian environment. Dine indoors or on the Terrace and enjoy a range of Lubiana wines.

Some "simple Italian cuisine" is certainly on my "to do" for an upcoming weekend. I will report back as soon as I have visited.

The menu changes seasonally but might include a selection of anitpasti followed by casarecce (pasta) with anchovy, nettle and ricotta; Lyndall lamb with salsa verde, crispy pink eye potatoes and bitter leaf salad, with a dessert of pannacotta with Meyer lemon.

There will also be vegetarian options and an optional cheese course with a range of biodynamic, organic and vegan friendly wines available by the glass or bottle.
