Take a chef born and raised in Rome, add an idyllic location in converted boatshed overlooking the river and you have the latest dining destination in regional New South Wales.
Isola Riva is a new Mediterranean-accented eatery at Foster Marina, in a quintessential Australian coastal town on the Mid North Coast, 310km north of Sydney.
Diners overlook Wallis Lake and can enjoy long lunches or dinners.
Isola Riva is a family and friends affair.
Executive chef Dani Cerullo was born and bred in Rome and has spent his career working in high-end restaurants in Italy and across Europe including the Hotel Boscolo in the ancient heart of Rome.
Having moved to Australia in 2015, he is joined in this new enterprise by his Australian wife and co-owner, Leah Curtis, her sister Sophie - both of whom grew up in Forster - and a childhood friend of the girls’, Ben Clark, who also has an impressive hospitality resume after 15 years spent working in the UK.
He was general manager at both Michelin-starred Bistro Bruno Loubet at the Zetter Hotel and the Mondrian Hotel in Southbank, both in London.
The quartet has a collective vision for the region starting with Isola Riva, to elevate the food and drink experience with memorable culinary experiences.
The menu features a selection of share plate dishes.
A sample dinner menu can be viewed here, along with a lunch menu viewed here.
The wine list includes a selection of European varietals with a combination of imported and Australian-produced labels.
Along with cocktails from the bar, Isola Riva also bottle their own house-made limoncello for guests to enjoy or purchase a bottle to take home and savour.
“We believe food is more than just a meal," said Leah Curtis. "It’s an opportunity to pause, enjoy time with friends and family and nourish the soul. While falling in love with the beauty of Forster from Isola Riva.”
Isola Riva is located at 69 Little Street, Forster. For bookings email ciao@isolariva.com.au
