A shiraz-flavoured gin offers a serious taste of the Barossa

Australians love their shiraz - and have an ongoing affair with artisan gins.

With the Barossa being Australia's shiraz capital, it made sense for the locals at Seppeltsfiled Road Distillers to launch a shiraz-infused gin three years ago.

The third "vintage" of the popular spirits combo has just been release and head distiller Nicole Durdin (below) says it is the best yet.

The 2020 Barossa Shiraz Gin uses premium grapes from the west of the Barossa to craft a spirit that is lively, fresh and intense.

The grapes are grown organically by Evan and Tina Gobell of Stonewell Vineyards and Durdin is extremely happy with the the collaboration.

“We are really excited about the 2020 vintage Shiraz Gin," she says. "True Barossa shiraz characters come to the fore and pay homage to Evan’s work in a challenging growing season.

“Soft, silky tannins, luscious dark berries and fresh citrus from the house gin base deliver a harmony and balance that sings on the palate.

“Having learnt and refined our skills and processes over the past three years, we think this is our best Shiraz Gin release yet.”

Seppeltsfield Road Distillers’ 2020 Barossa Shiraz Gin is extremely popular in cocktails including Negronis and is available for $80 online at www.seppeltsfieldroaddistillers.com.au/

    1. Hi Archie,
The colour of the gin comes from the grape skins. The whole berries macerate on our House Gin over a period of weeks, where the gin extracts colour, tannin, and a range of delicious and complex flavours.

      Regards,
      Seppeltsfield Road Distillers
