Superstar chefs head to Beechworth

Beechworth in Victoria will host some of Australia's leading chefs for the Swings and Roundabouts series of dinners in April-May.

The brainchild of Michael Ryan (below) of the hatted Provenance at Beechworth, the series features a star-studded line-up of leading Australian chefs donating their skills and time to a post-bushfire recovery series of lunches, dinners and masterclasses.

The event kicks off with Attica’s Ben Shewry at Provenance on April 17 and others in the line-up include JP Twomey (Carlton Wine Room), Dave Verhuel (Embla), Khanh Nguyen (Sunda) Tom Sarafian (Bar Saracen), Matt Stone (Oakridge), Nick Stanton (Leonard’s House of Love), Pete Gunn (Ides), Zac Furst (Bar Liberty), Frank Camorra (MoVida), Victor Liong (Lee Ho Fook), Thi Le (Anchovy), Emma McCaskill, (Sparkke at the Whitmore) and Lauren Eldridge (Stokehouse Group).

The Swings and Roundabouts events will be held at Provenance, as well as at the Old Beechworth Gaol (just a short distance from Provenance).

Each of the lunches and dinners will showcase the wines of Beechworth and Alpine Valleys vignerons, with the winemakers themselves pouring their own wines. Bridge Road Brewers beers will be available as well as Reed & Co gin from Bright.

Michael Ryan and Stone Tryst luxury accommodation owner Peter Bartholomew hit on the idea in for a series in the wake of the disastrous summer 2020 bushfires which were devastating for High Country businesses, including regional wineries.

Bartholomew enlisted the help of Lee Ho Fook’s Victor Liong and the event was born.

Most events will run across two days between April 17 and May 25 to encourage visitors to book a weekend away as well as the events.
