Simply capital. Canberra Craft Beer and Cider Festival expands

The 11th Canberra Craft Beer and Cider Festival will be held in a new venue in the grounds of Mercure Canberra to cater for what is expected to be the largest-ever collection of exhibitors.

The Festival, which will be held on March 24 between 11am-6pm, will move to the Batman Street lawns and the rear car park of the hotel to allow for an even wider range of premium craft beers and ciders to be tasted during the event.

Up to 200 beers and ciders will be available for tasting and visitors will be able to take part in beer/cider food matching sessions, hear guest speakers and meet the brewers. A range of dining options, entertainment and family activities will be available throughout the day.

Canberra’s rapidly emerging brewing scene is reflected in the presence of Bent Spoke Brewing Co, Kono's Jerky  and others, while interstate exhibitors include many of Australia’s most renowned breweries such as Sydney Brewery, Endeavour Beer, Pirate Life, Stone Dog Meadery, Akasha Brewing, Young Henrys, HopDog Beer Works, Mountain Goat Beer, Goose Island Brewery and James Squire.

Specialist cideries such as Nightingale Bros Alpine Cider and Willie Smith's Cider will exhibit their range of ciders.

Once again, the Festival will help raise funds for ACT Cancer Support’s Rise Above organisation, a locally based group that provides support for over 950 cancer patients.

Tickets are now available for $15 pre-purchase (via Moshtix) or $22 at the door (a booking fee applies).

The ‘Beer Fest 2018’ package includes two nights’ accommodation (March 23 and 24) at the 4-star Mercure Canberra, a four-pack of award-winning Sydney Brewery beer or cider, entry to the festival, five festival tasting tickets, breakfast each morning and a 4pm check out on Sunday. The package is available from $199 per room per night (conditions apply).
