Family-owned Adelaide Hills winery Longview has unveiled a new tasting room that will be known as Cucina.
Visitors can enjoy afternoon tastings, imbibing, eating and soaking up the terrific views from the new facility, which has natural stone features, recycled metal and timber, black-steel-framed windows and graffiti.
Put together by Longview staff, local tradespersons, artisans and family members, it’s truly an in-house project that has been forged from the ground up. A deck overlooking some of Longview’s oldest vines adds to the wow factor.
The Saturno family says Cucina now offers a menu of light seasonal Italian fare, designed to complement the Longview wines – and is open Wednesday-Sunday from noon-4pm.
Among the delights on offer are small plates of warm-marinated Adelaide Hills olives or roasted broad beans and chickpeas with rosemary and chilli salt.
A salumi platter features bresaola, chilli fennel cacciatore and smoked leg ham – handmade by the Saturno family. It is served with pickled cauliflower, pickled grapes, cornichons, mustard, warm olives, Skala Bakery ciabatta and extra virgin olive oil.
There is also a cheese platter featuring three styles: soft, hard and blue with Longview ‘Yakka’ shiraz jam, spiced roasted walnuts, fresh apple, dried pears and galletti.
Throw in a range of panini, daily specials and a blackboard selection of sweet treats and there should be something for everyone.
Wine experiences will range from free tasting for four wines, $5 for Longview’s core nine wines, $15 for Longview’s Nebbiolo experience and $15 for a Premium flight – all redeemable upon a one bottle purchase.
Longview Vineyard is on Pound Road, Macclesfield. www.longviewvineyard.com.au.
