A chance to discover the real Cuba - by motorbike

More adventurous readers might be interested in a unique holiday opportunity - riding across Cuba on the back of a motorcycle.
While Havana has developed into a tourism hub, much of rural Cuba remains under developed and authentic.

Until September 30, 2017, Extreme Bike Tours is offering a 10% discount for riders and a 20% discount for pillion riders on their 13-day guided tour of Cuba departing Havana on February 17, 2018.
I report this as news and cannot endorse the trip, although I have visited Cuba and found it fascinating.
Famous for its rustic countryside, colonial buildings, cigar factories, salsa clubs and 1950s American classic Chevrolets, much of Cuba remains frozen in time - although probably not for very much longer.
Now is an ideal time to experience a taste of the past before the country catches up to the 21st century.

The Cuba tour will include visits to villages, the museum at the Bay of Pigs and the mausoleum of executed Marxist revolutionary, Che Guevara, with the chance to swim with dolphins at Rancho Luna also available.
Beginning in the old town of Havana, riders and pillion passengers will be able to explore the colonial Spanish splendour of Cuba’s colourful capital, before hitting the road on the back of either a Harley Davidson, a BMW 800cc or Suzuki Storm.
The tour visits Vinales, stopping along the way at Las Terrazas National Park, where guests can swim in the river and ponds. Rideres can then enjoy a boat trip to Cueva del Indio (Cave of the Indian), exploring the indigenous caves along the river.

After a day in Vinales, the tour travels to Playa Larga, with a lunch experience at the Cave of the Fish – a deep-water hole in the forest filled with exotic fish. From there riders will visit the world heritage city of Trinidad, exploring its rich history before visiting the colonial town of Remedios – the oldest Spanish settlement in the former Las Villas province.
The 13-day tour will include nine days of riding and is open to licensed motorcycle riders from US$5,175 and pillion passengers riding behind partners or friends from US$3,720 including the discounts as well as accommodation and fuel, but not airfares.
The tour begins in Havana on February 17, 2018, and ends on March 1, 2018. To access the discount, mention the offer when enquiring online before September 30, 2017.
Extreme Bike Tours one of the world’s leading adventure motorcycle tour companies, offering tours in the Himalayas, Bhutan, Mongolia, Madagascar, India, Sri Lanka and Cuba.
