The luxury lakefront Rees Hotel in the New Zealand resort of Queenstown is well known to wine lovers, many of whom use it as a base from which to explore the vineyards of Central Otago.
The latest wine initiative to be launched by The Rees is the Ultimate Heli Wine Tasting Experience, which is hosted by general manager Mark Rose, a well-respected wine aficionado.
GM Rose, a wine expert with extensive knowledge of wines both locally and globally, has nurtured a strong wine and culinary programme at the hotel. The property is now established as having one of the best wine cellars in New Zealand and offers a prized collection of Bordeaux and Central Otago wines.
A package designed for a minimum of two people costs $NZ2,479 per person.

Guests enjoy 180-degree panoramic views of Queenstown from a six-seater helicopter, a gourmet lunch and sample a variety of award-winning wines from local regions.
This bucket-list experience is for either two or four people and includes accommodation at The Rees.
The Heli Wine Tasting Experience includes a glass of bubbles and a luxury transfer from The Rees to Queenstown International Airport, from where a six-seater helicopter from the Helicopter Line will fly over the Gibbston Valley and Kawarau Gorge on the way to a tasting and lunch at Mt Difficulty winery.
Then follows spectacular views of Lake Wanaka and the renowned Rippon Vineyard to taste some of the best organic wines before a final stop (and drink) at the historic Cardrona Pub.
Package offerings are for either two or four people and include two night’s accommodation.
