Arequipa, the second city in Peru behind Lima, is often overlooked in favour of more tourist-oriented destinations like Cusco and Puno, gateway to Lake Titicaca.
That's a huge pity as Arequipa is a wonderfully cosmopolitan and elegant city reminiscent of the finest cities of Europe.
