Wellington set for a tidal wave of pinot noir

Wellington is getting set for a tidal wave of pinot noir.

In addition to hosting Pinot Noir NZ 2017 early next year, the New Zealand capital will host a huge public pinot tasting.

Pinot Noir NZ has joined forces with Bottle Shop Concepts to deliver Pinot Palooza, the largest pinot tasting Wellington has seen - and a follow-up to several sell-out Pinot Palooza events in Australia.

Pinot Palooza will take place on January 30, 2017, with Wellington’s Waterfront being transformed into a Pinot Pavilion, with 120 of New Zealand’s top pinot noir producers putting on a huge wine tasting for the public.
“Pinot Palooza’s tagline is ‘wine that rocks’ so to accompany the incredible range of pinot noir on offer we’ll have local DJs, food trucks and sommelier ‘roadies’," says organiser Dan Sims. "It will be a great time guaranteed for everyone who comes along.”

Held in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide every year, Pinot Palooza debuted on the Auckland Waterfront earlier this month - but Wellington will be an even bigger event.

Pinot Palooza will kick off Pinot Noir NZ 2017, three days described as ‘the best pinot noir event on the planet’ and an event that attracts some of the world’s greatest minds and palates on the subject.

"Pinot Palooza and Pinot Noir NZ collaborating has happened because of the incredible enthusiasm and support of Kiwi wineries for both events," says Pinot Noir NZ chair Ben Glover. "We like the idea of showing our wines to pinot lovers in a unique, relaxed environment. We’re excited to see what’s in store because Dan Sims really knows how to put on a show."

All tickets will include all wine tastes and a Riedel wine glass valued at $35 - and early bird prices start at $59. See www.pinotnz.co.nz
