Combine
a popular film festival with some wine tastings and you have the
perfect recipe for summer enjoyment.
The
Tasmanian Breath of Fresh Air Film Festival (BOFA), to be held in
Launceston from November 4-8, has teamed with several Tamar Valley
producers to add to the interactive side of the event.
BOFA’s
offerings include a Behind
the Bubbles Tour
that will take in some of Tasmania’s
best sparkling wineries and winemakers. Jansz and House of Arras
vineyards feature along with Andrew Pirie's Apogee and a Tasmanian
seafood and sparkling wine lunch at Pipers Brook, where Kreglinger is
the signature bubbly.
Small
group tours will be led by Tony Walker, author of Vintage
Tasmania,
the
Complete Book of Tasmanian Wine, and
former
Examiner wine
writer
on Wednesday,
November 4 and Sunday November 8.
Ticket
holders can also indulge in pre-screening
canapés and cocktails at Mud
Bar & Restaurant, hosted by
Tasmanian writer/director Roger Scholes, prior to a screening of
Scholes’ feature film The
Tale Of Ruby Rose on
Friday, November 6.
The
following day offers
the
possibility to enjoy delicious
platters along with a glass of sparkling rosé at the Barrel
Room at Velo Wines,
for an event hosted by BOFA festival director, Owen Tilbury.
The
Taste
of the Tamar Valley
tour,
meanwhile, features a behind the scenery glimpse as Goaty
Hill Wines joins with Casa Paella and a range of Tamar Valley
producers to offer a series of gourmet cooking classes hosted by chef
Edrick Corban-Banks. They will be followed by a vineyard tour and a
wine tasting with Goaty Hill co-owner, Natasha Nieuwhof.
The
schedule also includes a pre-screening morning brunch at
award-winning Stillwater
Restaurant with several leading film-makers.
