Hobart just can't get enough when it comes to markets

Hobart has an ongoing love affair with street markets.

The Salamanca Market, held every Saturday morning, draws thousands of locals and visitors and is the biggest tourist drawcard in the state.

The Hobart Farm Gate Market, held on Sundays, entices artisan producers from around the state and is a popular meeting place for locals.

And now, after a successful debut season, the Friday night Hobart Twilight Markets are back.

Hobart’s first and only regular beachside twilight market greeted the new season on Friday evening and will now run every fortnight throughout summer at Sandy Bay.

Hobart Twilight Market spans over 50 stalls offering gourmet eats, artisan wine, beer and ciders alongside art, craft and design finds.

Among the returning stallholders are Black Mountain Smokehouse, T&B Market Kitchen, Conscious Lifestyle, Wood-Fiery Redhead pizza, Lady Hester Donuts, PavLovas, MIAM French Crepes, Franks cider, Domaine Simha/Sanskrit wines and Tickleback Ridge wines.

New faces include Fowlers cheese, Our Little Vegan Kitchen, The Porky Duck, Nicholls Rivulet Organic Farm's excellent home-made pies, Our Garden to You and T-Bone Brewing.

Face painting, balloons, a roving magician and giant Tazorb balls will keep the kids amused, while patrons can look forward to a mix of entertainers and buskers over the season.

The Hobart Twilight Market encourages patrons to bring along a picnic rug, take the dog out for a walk and cycle the bike lanes.

"Our focus will always be on Tasmanian product and services and we invest a lot of time curating the right mix of stalls," say the organisers.

Hobart Twilight Market will operates from 4pm-8:30pm on alternate Fridays throughout summer and two consecutive Fridays in December.
